Questions

The things people ask most about DivisionOS.

What is DivisionOS?

An operating system built from nothing. It runs the Linux kernel, and everything above it is its own: the system that starts the machine and its shell, the desktop and its apps, and the way programs are installed.

When can I download it?

Not yet. The first public release will be an alpha, and it will be on the Download page.

Is it free?

Yes. DivisionOS is free and open source. The source code will be public soon.

What does it run on?

64-bit PCs. It ships with the open graphics drivers, and NVIDIA's own driver is one click away in Settings.

Will it touch the drive I use now?

No. The installer writes to a drive you choose and leaves the one you booted from alone.

How do I install programs?

From the Division Store. Programs come as bundles, DivisionOS's own format. Why bundles exist.

Can I play games on it?

Yes. Steam and Battle.net are in the Division Store, and every major game launcher is on the goals list.

Where do I get help or report a bug?

On Discord. Email is not used for support, and support emails are deleted automatically.

What is the email address for?

Business and information requests only: [email protected].

How is DivisionOS funded?

By the people who support it. DivisionOS is built full time, every day. Support DivisionOS.
